It is believed by some that when the Native Americans named this part of the country, they called it "Awatos"- "Where The Waters Meet." The name honors the spot where two creeks joined before traveling together to the bay. Today it's called Aptos.
The area boasts antique shops, golf, tennis, beaches, fabulous restaurants, art galleries, wineries, drive-in movie theater, and great biking trails. We have a great variety of evening entertainment, Moe's Ally for Blues, Crow's Nest for showcasing local talent, or a quiet evening sitting by the beach. And don't forget the people. Friendly and easy to talk to
Capitola, one of my favorites, is a great place to shop, eat, and enjoy watching people. Park in the public parking lots. Warning... Pull you car into the stall straight! I once got a ticket for parking in the stall. Capitola really enforces the meter times. Bring lots of quarters. Capitola has a great summer Wine and Art Festival. Well worth the time.
We have some of the best Blues Clubs in the area. (You can tell I love the music). Aptos has a Blues Festival every Memorial Day for two full days.
